Built to Protect What Matters Most

When handling hazardous or corrosive fluids, the stakes are high. SANDPIPER containment duty diaphragm pumps are designed to keep your operation safe, compliant, and productive.

  • Protect people and equipment. A containment chamber sits between the pumping and driver diaphragms, forming a sealed barrier between the Air Side and Wet Side.
  • Stay compliant, avoid costs. Leaks are caught before fluid escapes, helping facilities meet environmental and safety standards.
  • Minimize downtime. Like all Signature Series pumps, these models include ESADS+Plus, allowing fast in-line access to the air valve when maintenance is needed, keeping downtime to a minimum.

Heavy Duty Ball Pumps, Metallic

Reliable Performance for Suspended, Settling & Floating Solids

When pumping fluids that contain suspended, settling, or floating solids, you need a pump that can handle the variability without clogging, stalling, or wearing out too soon. SANDPIPER’s Heavy Duty Ball Pumps, available in metallic construction, are built to meet the challenge.

These air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps are part of our Signature Series™, designed to deliver long-lasting performance in demanding environments. Built with multiple porting options and rugged materials, these pumps provide a solution to everything from sludge and slurry to abrasive or viscous fluids, keeping your process efficient and requiring less maintenance.

Key Features:

  • Sizes: 1 – 4″ (25 – 102 mm)
  • Flow: 42 – 300 gpm (159 – 1136 lpm)
  • Solids Handling: .25 – .875” (6 – 22 mm)
  • Displacement: .9 – 2.0 gallons (.34 – 7.6 L)
  • Construction: Aluminum, Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Alloy C
  • Elastomers: (Diaphragms, Check Balls, Seats) Nitrile, Neoprene, Santroprene®, PTFE, Fluorocarbon, Hytrel®, EPDM
  • Down-, top-, or side-porting to match your installation and fluid type
  • Weighted check balls improve reliability with viscous or variable fluids
  • ESADS+Plus air distribution system allows easy in-line maintenance
  • Cross-drilled spool valve prevents pump stalling
  • Robust diaphragm connecting rod ensures consistent, long-term operation

Weighted Ball Design Meets Heavy-Duty Performance

Unlike flap pumps, ball valve designs use weighted check balls to control flow. This makes the Heavy Duty Ball Pump ideal for:

  • Settling solids that need to move without collecting in the pump
  • Suspended or floating solids where flexible porting improves evacuation
  • Slurries or abrasives where added wear protection is critical

Choose the Right Porting for Your Application

  • Top-Ported: Ideal for floating solids, entrained gases, or suspended solids. Reduces build-up and makes evacuation easier.
  • Down-Ported: Best for settling solids. Solids flow out through the elbow, not the diaphragm chamber.
  • Side-Ported (1″ and 1½” sizes only): For tight spaces where a compact footprint is needed.

Heavy Duty Flap Pumps, Metallic & Non-Metallic

Engineered for the Most Demanding Solids-Handling Applications

When your application involves large, abrasive, or fast-settling solids, you need a pump that won’t clog or wear out quickly. SANDPIPER’s Heavy Duty Flap Pumps, available in both metallic and non-metallic models, are built to move even the toughest fluids with confidence and control.

These air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps are designed with a full flow-through, bottom-discharge design and swing-style flap valves that pass solids up to 3″ in diameter, keeping your system running by reducing clogs and protecting components.

Key Features:

  • Sizes: 1 – 4″ sizes (25 – 102 mm)
  • Flow: 70 – 310 gpm (265 – 1173 lpm)
  • Solids Handling: 1 – 3” (25 – 76 mm)
  • Construction: Aluminum, Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Polypropylene
  • Elastomers: (Diaphragms & Flaps) Nitrile, Neoprene, Hytrel®, Santoprene®, Fluorocarbon, EPDM, Urethane
  • Bottom-discharge porting clears solids efficiently, preventing buildup and wear
  • Dry prime suction lift up to 24 ft., 5% higher than typical ball valve pumps
  • Quick access to serviceable components for faster maintenance and less downtime
  • ESADS+Plus air distribution system allows easy in-line maintenance

What Makes Flap Pumps Different?

Unlike standard ball valve pumps, flap valves create a more direct path for challenging materials to flow. This makes Heavy Duty Flap Pumps especially effective when:

  • Solids are too large for ball valves
  • Material settles quickly or becomes compacted
  • You need vertical lift or long suction lines
  • You want fewer wear parts exposed to abrasive slurries
